I was a shinobi. In my world shinobi take contracts for pay--anything from simple errands, to thieving, spying, playing guard, assassination or full out conflict. A shinobi's strength generally determines the assignments they are given.
Typically these contracts are handled through a village government, though when I killed my clan I left the village and joined a separate organization.
